Peace

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. I do not give it to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled  and do not be afraid. John 14:27

I wonder what it was like that day. I picture a quiet hush had fallen, expectant faces turned towards the Master.

Waiting…..

Wondering…..

What was He going to say next?

So many things the dear Savior had said. He was leaving, but not to despair. He was leaving a gift.

A gift?  A gift! What was it to be?

Peace

Peace! Oh blissful peace from all the shattered heart-aches and troubles of life.

Peace I leave with you.

Oh the joy to have the supernatural peace brought by God. To rest in the assurance of God’s peace through trials and turmoil, rugged paths and tempests. Blessed is the person to have the soothing balms of Christ’s peace as a salve for an aching heart!

My peace I give to you

A hush falls. He gives it….

Freely……. We can receive it, not due to our merit but because of His worthiness. FREE—there for all…..peace…..peace…..peace

I do not give you as the world gives.

Eternal peace, real peace, gifted to all, not with attachments and requirements of the world. Valuable and true, not the fake, cheap promises of happiness the world offers. Peace that is truly untarnishable. Can it truly be mine?

Do not let your hearts be troubled

My heart, my aching, broken heart, it’s been bruised, tormented and shattered. Can it be whole again? Can it be pain free?

Can it really feel joy again?

The miracles of God’s peace knows no boundaries.

Do not be afraid.

Peace, His peace, God’s peace is an all consuming peace, driving out all fear….all uncertainty…all pain.

Can it really be mine?

Yes, yes it can. All it takes is turning our heart over to Christ. Turning over the broken, charred remains to be re-newed, re-birthed, re-created, not after our old heart—but after the glorious pattern God holds out for us.

Peace…Peace… Eternal Peace
